This is the time of year where we reflect on the past year and plan for the next. As I was going through my unpublished patterns last week, I came across some photos of beaded bangle bands that I had designed and beaded more than five years ago. I had the patterns listed then but, sales weren't strong and the shop I purchased my bangles from had no stock so I de-listed the patterns and promptly forgot about them.
Lo and behold, the shop I purchased my "blanks" from has them back in stock so I have republished my bangle bands and designed a few new ones.
They arrive to you looking like this:
They require a light sanding to make sure they are nice and smooth and then you get to choose how you finish them. I've used an espresso wood stain, left them natural, painted them and also stained on in tea just to see how that looked. You can seal them with varathane clear coat or as I've done, used a paste floor wax just to give them a bit of a glow. The options are endless really.
The beaded band is beaded flat and then zipped onto the bangle. I will try an elastic thread at some point just to see if the band would fit on the bangle that way and then they can be changed. One bangle, many bands? I'll try it and let you know. I have two spools of this in my stash so it's worth a try.
And below is my latest bangle band design. I love these bangles!
